Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy Services

Counseling services at the office of Ginny Estupinian PhD

Dr. Estupinian will do a complete evaluation, and at the end of your first appointment, she will offer to discuss the possible path forward with you and give you a treatment plan.

Before you arrive, you will be given access to the client portal.  In this portal, you can share your concerns confidentially with Dr. Estupinian.  You will also receive a couple of brief assessments to submit in the portal.  These items are then reviewed by Dr. Estupinian before your first session and prepared for your visit.  When you first speak with Dr. Estupinian, you will find a compassionate, nonjudgemental professional ready to listen to you and give you the answers you need to feel better.

Each session is 50 minutes long.  Our sessions only occur on the hour. There are no half- hour sessions.

This is an issue that you can discuss with Dr. Estupinian.  Usually, she recommends more frequent sessions rather than longer sessions.  Of course, each situation is unique, and Dr. Estupinian will tailor an appropriate solution for you.

We offer both virtual and in-person sessions. As a client, you always have the opportunity to change from in-person to virtual, depending on your work, travel, or other reasons.  There are no additional costs, and we can accommodate the change on the same day.
Please note that virtual reality therapy can only be conducted in our office due to the equipment used. Should you have any questions, call our office, and our friendly staff will answer your questions.

Everyone responds to therapy differently, but many feel relief right away simply by opening up about their struggles. Taking that first step toward better mental health often sparks hope and optimism. From our very first session, I'll provide support and share tools to help ease anxiety and stress immediately.

Therapy is as unique as the person seeking it. Your experience will be shaped by your individual challenges and goals. Typically, sessions involve exploring current events in your life, delving into relevant personal history, and reflecting on progress or insights gained since your last visit. Whether you’re tackling a specific issue in the short term or working through deeper patterns and personal growth over time, therapy is a space tailored to your needs. Most often, sessions are scheduled weekly for consistency and momentum.
To get the most out of therapy, active participation is key. The real magic happens when you take what you’ve learned in the sessions and apply it to your daily life. Your therapist may suggest exercises to support your progress, such as journaling, reading, observing certain behaviors, or taking steps toward your goals.
Therapy isn’t just about talking—it’s about transformation. It’s for those ready to embrace positive change, explore new perspectives, and take ownership of their journey. If you’re willing to put in the work, therapy can be a powerful tool for creating the life you want.

Confidentiality is a cornerstone of the client-therapist relationship. Therapy works best when there's trust, allowing you to share sensitive topics in a safe, private space. Your therapist will provide a written confidentiality agreement, ensuring that what you share stays between you two. This agreement, called “Informed Consent,” means your therapist cannot share your information without your written permission—even with other members of your healthcare team.
However, there are exceptions where therapists are legally and ethically required to break confidentiality:
If there’s suspected abuse or neglect of a child, adult, or elder, they must report it to authorities.
If there’s a serious risk of you harming yourself or others, they are obligated to take necessary action to ensure safety.

Your privacy is taken seriously, but these exceptions are in place to protect everyone involved.
